Well, we are in standby mode. We went to the hospital Thursday and had an eye exam. The doc said to come back at the end of chemo (November) and they'll make some plans at that time to do surgery on his right eye to straighten it out. We had another appt. with a lady who hooked Ryan's face to some sensors and a computer showed if any signal was coming from those nerves and muscles. You couldn't see Ryan smile with your eye but the sensors could pick up some small signs that we couldn't see. That was encouraging to see. The hope is that as he gets stronger and chemo raps up we'll begin to actually see his face start to move more. After those two appts. we went to the oncology clinic expecting to be admitted that afternoon for chemo but they ended up having too many children with cancer and not enough beds available for us all at that time. They sent us home and put us "on call" so to speak. We are on the list for a room when one comes open so they will call us once other patients check out and a room comes open. Hopefully by Friday afternoon we will be in the hospital for this round of chemo.
In other news though, Ryan and I went with my dad to Huntsville to see the NASA Space and Rocket museum last week. Mary Lee stayed home and had a free day without kids. Ryan loved the museum and got to see what the inside of the space station looks like and got to see a bunch of rockets. His favorite part of course was getting to see where the astronauts bathroom was. Why that is so fascinating for a five year old boy, I do not know, but he thought he was really funny standing in the astronauts bathroom and shower area pretending. He had me take a couple of pictures of him and demanded that I put them on his website so here are a couple pics from that trip. He took some of the pics himself.
