Hanging in there .....
The last few weeks have been a bit crazy. Addie's first week out of school coincided with Ryan's first week of low counts - he felt pretty lousy and Addie was ready to go, go, go! I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest. Addie followed me around saying, "summer break - we go pool, we go mall" - this happened about every 5 seconds - ignoring her didn't help either. It was a little stressful being "stuck" at home and not being able to get out. Bless her heart - she just doesn't understand it all and she can't reason it all out. Ryan needed lots of loving and snuggle time and he wasn't used to sharing me with her either. My Mom took them to Cookeville last w/end and we all had a much needed break I think- you know I think they get sorta sick of us too :) (thanks Mom!). We did survive and thankfully his counts are on the upswing - he is feeling pretty good but does have a nasty sinus infection .... Praise Jesus that he has not had any fever with that!!! He is on 14 days of antibiotics - so hopefully it will be cleared up before our next admission. Please pray for his appetite to increase - he was down a pound when we went in for the sinus infection. His appetite seemed to be picking up, but being on antibiotics can make your tummy feel "off" - Please pray that the antibiotics won't mess up his tummy, that he won't get thrush, and that his weight will be back up for our next admission on June 21st. Rob and I would really appreciate your prayers for us to be spiritually, emotionally, and mentally recharged - just seems that lots of little things are beginning to add up and then they look enormous because your perception is so skewed. The other night I was praying and I just kept telling Him that I was just ready for my little guy to not have to be so brave anymore - I'm thankful that he is so brave and so incredible - but I'm just ready for him to get to be a normal kid. I go back though and remind myself of His faithfulness - how He provided a great birthday for Ryan - how He provides for our every need ..... He really has and I am certain He will continue to do so. I sooooo appreciate the many offers we are having to come swim - you guys are so good to us -and I will be taking you all up on that!
You may remember a while back I mentioned sweet little Ethan Powell - please take some time and remember this family in your prayers - they are getting him ready for his bone marrow transplant and many things need to line up exactly right for this to take place - www.ethanpowell.com
