Quick Update ....
We have been keeping busy - enjoying the days while Ryan's counts are up. Ryan has been feeling really good and had lots of energy - his weight is up by almost 2 pounds and his appetite continues to be good - gotta PRAISE HIM for that - we are thrilled about this and believe your prayers are being heard and that they make a difference for Ryan - we have a God who hears us!
Tomorrow we will see a new physical therapist who specializes in neuromuscular retraining - we have been doing some research on our own as far as the facial palsy and believe we are being led in this direction - at least to have Ryan evaluated and see what her thoughts are. I have been in contact with a few people through the internet whose children experienced facial palsy after this type of surgery - none that had bilateral though - they all just had the palsy on one side (we are just so special :)). It seems that many take different approaches- some have basically had plastic surgery to make the face appear more "normal", some say that after three years it really improved (yes - THREE YEARS!! - that was hard for me to hear). We are praying that tomorrow will help us know what direction we need to be going in - please pray that with us - pray for wisdom and guidance. Pray that it will be a positive visit and that she will at least know how to direct us if she is not the one we need. I do believe that Ryan will smile again - I don't doubt on this, I just want to know we are doing all that we need to do on our end as his parents.
I believe God gave me this scripture soon after Ryan's surgery for me to pray for him and to give me HOPE - I would love for you all to pray in agreement on this with us:
"And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, WILL HIMSELF RESTORE YOU (RYAN) and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. TO HIM BE THE POWER FOR EVER AND EVER. Amen." 1 Peter 5:8-11
I am so thankful for our doctors, nurses, therapists that take such wonderful care of our family - but, we know that it is OUR GOD who receives all honor and praise for .... it is by His power that all things come to be.
Happy Late 4th of July!!!!

hi there Ryan,
this is the Grand Dude (Hezekiah's grand dad). i talked to your mommy yesterday on the phone. i told her that next year (which seems like a long time away) will be our 35th wedding anniversary, Hezekiah's parents' 10th wedding anniversary AND it will mean Hezekiah is through his treatments. so i told your mommy we are going to have a big celebration and you all are welcome to attend.
in the meantime, i will be back in Portland the second week or so in August to finish the bathroom in Hezekiah's house as well as finish off his new room. you will have to come over to see his new room when it is finished.
have a good week, Grand Dude
