Port Free

(A better pic of Ryan on his bike and Jump Rope for Heart)

Sorry for the delayed update - I'm a bit under the weather myself.

Ryan did really well with having his port removed - he's a little sore, but going strong ....... Praise Him! It was strange being back in the Surgery area - brings back so many memories ....... very bittersweet. I saw several of the nurses who took care of Ryan before and after his brain surgery .... I'm sure they wouldn't remember us - they only have you for a short time getting him ready for surgery, then afterwards for recovery - I could only wonder how many other sweet little things had come through here since for that same surgery. I'll never forget the faces or the names of those nurses ..... I was handing over my most precious cargo to them ..... God has chosen such sweet nurses through all of this (one or two I could have done without :) - but overall, nothing but really good nurses). Rob and I were talking and wondering what the other families were there for ..... some for minor surgeries (though pretty much nothing is minor when it comes to your child) .... others there facing huge surgeries like we were on October 10, 2006. We were very thankful to our God to be there for a port removal. We were and are very thankful to have each of you fervently praying for out little man. It is very strange to now be port free ...... I like CANCER FREE even better. We will continue to pray that Ryan's little body is never, ever again touched by this terrible, ugly disease ...... we pray that the scar on the back of his head will bring Glory to our Heavenly Father!!!

Thought I would share a few pictures from Jump Rope for Heart. Addie and Ryan had lots of fun even though neither can jump rope worth a lick ..... watching all of those children was hilarious ..... you are either born "with it" 0r "not with it" ...... I'm thinking my two would fall into the "not with it" category ...... some of the kids were amazing .... that would be the ones with rhythm :). Addie never got the rope around, but jumped, jumped, jumped with all her might - she's actually a really good jumper .... Ryan tried very hard but just couldn't quite get it around. But hey, I was proud of them for trying their best ....... they jumped in honor of our cousin Clifton and for Granna's neighbor Gladys - both who have heart disease and have had to have open heart surgery. Thanks to all of you who donated and supported them!!!!

"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men." Psalm 107:28-31
