Another long day ...
Ryan's tonsils continue to cause problems with his breathing during his radiation. Today they had to intubate him (the "real" breathing tube) because he was so swollen that he just didn't have good air exchange. This meant a longer sedation time again and making waking up much harder on him. They seem quite concerned and unsure as to how they will deal with this since his treatment is for a long time. Ryan has to be face down during treatment so that doesn't help anything. Obviously, it is concerning for us too since they seem so concerned. He did test positive for Strep, but the oncologist feels that Ryan is just a carrier since he has no symptoms. We have thought this for quite some time since Addie always has had symptoms ... Ryan would always test positive, but never have symptoms. We are treating it anyway just to make sure. Anyway, our immediate prayer concern is that Ryan's tonsils would not continue to be of such great concern. We need a miraculous shrinking of the tonsils .... seriously. Otherwise, he continues to do well ... praise Him! I do think I see some decrease in his energy level, but for the most part, once he gets good and awake he seems to feel pretty good. All of his blood counts were good today also! We are beat and ready to be home for the weekend! Ryan is thrilled that the needle comes out tomorrow. Please pray that tomorrow will go so much better. The great thing is that Ryan doesn't really know that there are issues as he is sleeping through it... wish I could say the same :). They continue to tell me how sore his throat will be each day as they apparently try different breathing devices until they get the right one ..... amazingly he hasn't complained!! That is such a praise!!!
